Betty Irene Schmidt Raffield

Betty Irene (Schmidt) Raffield was born on August 6, 1946, in Charles City, Iowa; the daughter of Otto Schmidt Jr and Marion (Graham) Renning . She attended school in Waterloo at Lafayette Elementary and McKinstry Intermediate, until her family moved to Panama City, Florida. She then attended Bay High School where she earned her diploma in 1964. Betty married Jerry “Wayne” Raffield on June 26, 1964; he preceded her in death on October 17, 2013. After moving back to Iowa, Betty was a substitute teacher at the Waterloo Community Schools. Betty enjoyed garage sales, the casino, playing cards, camping, going out to eat, and dancing. But above all else she loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Betty passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at the age of 78, at Parkview Manor in Reinbeck Iowa. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brother-in-laws, Larry and Bobby Raffield. Betty is survived by a son Dan (Andrea) Raffield of Reinbeck; a daughter, Marcie Raffield of Gladbrook, Iowa; four grandchildren, Emily Else and Aidan, Grayson and McKenna Raffield; three sisters, Nancy (Ted) Kennedy of Grand Bay, Alabama, Linda (Bob) Stavos of Panama City, Florida and Ruth Graveman of Fairbank, Iowa and many nieces and nephews.

 Visitation: Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am at Parrott and Wood Chapel of Memories, 965 Home Plaza, Waterloo.

 Funeral Service: Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 11:30 am, at Parrott and Wood Chapel of Memories.

 Burial following the funeral services at Garden of Memories in Waterloo.
