Dean Peter Weber

Dean Weber, age 83, of Dunkerton, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on January 31, 2025. He was born on January 11, 1942 in Waterloo, IA to Norbert and Pauline (Meier) Weber. He married the love of his life, Elaine Petersen, on July 11, 1964 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Waterloo, IA.

 Dean graduated from Dunkerton High School in 1960, attended Trade School in Omaha for Body and Fender Repair, and worked at Crossroads Ford for 56 years. He was an enlisted member of the Iowa National Guard from 1963-1969. Farming was Dean's true passion, and he dedicated his life to it. He especially enjoyed sharing the abundant sweetcorn harvest with his family and friends each year.

 Dean cherished the time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a constant presence at their sporting events, cheering them on with pride. Dean loved making farm memories with his grandchildren, especially tractor and gator rides. 

Dean loved the Iowa State Fair and the happy memories he made there every fall. The 4-H fair was a special place for Dean, where he proudly supported his children as they showed their steers. Dean raised horses and enjoyed the countryside on horseback, participated in Pony Express rides, and enjoyed the adventure of trail riding.

 Dean is survived by his wife, Elaine; his four children: Deneen (Steve) Mills of Waterloo, Laurie (Hans) Arwine of Lisbon, Tish (Brian) Jacobsen of Dunkerton, and Josh (Katie) Weber of Denver. As well as his 14 grandchildren: Heather, Ashley, Courtney, Shauna, Brandon, Brittany, Tyler, Trevor, Hannah, Dominik, Jayden, Izzy and Mallory; and 10 great grandchildren.

 Dean was a brother to Jim of Minnesota, Tim (Kathy) of Springville, Grace Hernandez of Waterloo and Lucille Hunter of Georgia.

 He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson Bailey Arwine.
