Dennis Eugene Moore of Hazelton passed away surrounded by family on April 3, 2025, at the Cedar Valley Hospice House. He was 74 years old.
Dennis was born on March 10, 1951, in Waterloo to Eugene “Dinty” and Dorothy (Keefe) Moore. He was a 1970 graduate of Waterloo West High School. After school, Dennis went to work for John Deere for 14 years in assembly and 25 years in the foundry. He retired in 2014.
Dennis was passionate about Harleys and Hotrods. In the '90s, with his brother-in-law Jerry, they founded Harleys-N-Hotrods. They raised money for Make a Wish and over the years they were able to grant many wishes. They received the Governor's Award for their work with the foundation.
Dennis enjoyed hunting and lemon meringue pie when he wasn’t working with his Harley-N-Hotrods. Dennis also had a goal of traveling on his bike to every state, and just about had this accomplished. Just missing Hawaii and Alaska. One time while traveling, with the “Luck of Dennis” a mountain lion hit him while he was riding, and if you tried to say he hit the mountain lion, he would set you straight.
Dennis also was the type of man who never met a stranger, and he would treat you as a friend even if you just met him. He loved spending time with his four daughters, grandkids, and all his friends and family.
Dennis is survived by his daughters, Leslie Moore of Waterloo, Lisa Moore of Waterloo, Lori Moore of Waterloo, and Laura )Nathan Salinas) Liddle of Waterloo; ten grandchildren, Cody (Texi) Moore, Kyle (Alexa) Moore, Lindsey (Nathan) Borrett, Apryl (Chris Thompson) Gerstenkorn, Nicolas Gerstenkorn, Julian Moore, Chloe Tibbals, Emma Moore, Anabella Moore, and Sebastian Moore; six great-grandchildren; his siblings, Tom (Sharron Freeman) Moore of North Carolina, Cindy Ersland of Waterloo, Chuck (Barbara) Moore of Denver, Dorene (Dave Balk) Moore of Elk Run, and Paul (Sabrina) Moore of Solon; brother-in-law, Rod Boehmer, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Cayd Sapp; sister, Sondra Boehmer; stepdaughter, Christy Tovar; brother-in-law Jerry Ersland, and his best friend, Sam.
