Donna Lee Hansen November 11, 2024

Donna Lee Hansen was born April 19, 1933, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the daughter of Willeibelle Harwell Trunnell and Donald William Trunnell. She graduated from Cedar Falls High School. Donna married Cliff Hansen on July 12, 1953, in Cedar Falls. They enjoyed traveling, dancing, playing cards, volunteering and following their grandchildren’s activities. They were faithful attendees of Fresh Wind Church at the Western Home.

Donna owned Baldwin Beauty Shop with Cliff and friends, and an upholstery business. She worked for many years in the Guidance Office of Cedar Falls High School. Donna was an avid volunteer. She cherished the 22 years she volunteered with Cedar Valley Hospice, made too many quilts to count donating them to many organizations, sewed over 1500 masks during the Covid pandemic, assisted with funeral lunches and served as a Stephen Minister at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and performed many duties at Cedar Falls Lutheran Home and their church.

In addition to quilting, crocheting, sewing, and knitting, Donna enjoyed many craft projects over the years. Donna could be found at the puzzle table at Deery Suites until the week of her death.

Donna is survived by her husband, Cliff, of the Western Home; a son Steve (Yumiko) Uchiyama-Hansen; a daughter, Sue (Rocky) Fletcher of Cedar Falls; grandchildren Jennifer (Aaron) Smith of Wilmette, Illinois, Daniel (Megan) Fletcher of Palo Alto, California; Miya and Kengo Uchiyama-Hansen; great-grandchildren Charlie and Audrey Smith of Wilmette, Illinois and Wyatt and Rhys Fletcher of Palo Alto, California; and a sister-in-law Jan Trunnell of Colorado, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

To honor Donna’s wishes, there will be a memorial service at a later date.

Family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Windermere and Deery Suites at the Western Home, and Cedar Valley Hospice, who provided care for her.
