Gary Lee Neelans Sr

Gary Lee Neelans Sr passed away September 17, 2024, after a long illness. He was 80 years old. He was born May 28, 1944, in Waterloo, IA to Paul and Nettie (Gerholdt) Neelans. Gary married Barbara Anderson, she later passed. They had two sons, Gary Jr and Alan Neelans, and one daughter Annette Neelans. 

Gary worked for John Deere for many years in the foundry and later retired. When he wasn’t working, he loved fishing and going to the casino. His biggest passion was with his son Gary Jr and racing. He was a big fan of Jeff Gordon. 

Gary is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Annette Neelans; three sisters, Mary Neelans, Dorothy Neelans, and Marlene Neelans; and four brothers. Dale Neelans, James Neelans, Donald Neelans, and Paul Neelans. 

He is survived by his two sons, Gary (Karla) Neelans Jr and Allen Neelans; four grandchildren, Amanda (Robert)Dains, Kyle Neelans, Brandon Neelans, and Andrew Neelans; and seven great grandchildren, Wednesday, Kaleb, Oaklyn, Lynlee, Madison, Steph, and Brandon. 

A visitation will be held September 24, 2024, 4:00-7:00pm at Parrott and Wood Chapel of Memories, 965 Home Plaza, Waterloo, IA.
