George Albert Schumacher

George Albert Schumacher was born February 6, 1940, in Lamont, Iowa, the son of Chris and Bernice (Brunkhurst) Schumacher. George graduated from Lamont High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1963. He married Rosalene Bartels on October 2, 1976, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, she preceded him in death on November 19, 2013. George was employed by Chamberlain Manufacturing for 28 years, then worked for Criterion Inc., for 11 years before retiring.  George enjoyed hunting, fishing and his work on Scroll Saw making pictures.

George passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at the Rehabilitation Center in Hampton, at the age of 83. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents and a brother, Lawrence Schumacher. George is survived by a brother, Laverne (Pat) Schumacher of Alden, Iowa; his nieces and nephews; four brothers-in-law, Dean (Carol) Bartels, Allen (Connie) Bartels, Wayne Bartels and Gary (Marcia) Bartels and a sister-in-law, Carolyn (David) McAnally.

Visitation: Friday, November 3, 2023, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 420 Harwood Ave., Waterloo.

Service: Friday, November 3, 2023, at 11:00 am at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.

Burial: Garden of Memories Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted.
