James Wagner

James Ralph Wagner was born on January 25, 1944, in Waterloo, the son of Ralph and Frances (Abfalter) Wagner.  James graduated high school from East High in 1961.  He served his country in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1965 and was honorably discharged.  James married Myra Wagner in 1969 and later divorced.  He worked as a bartender at the Waterloo Elks Club, Smitty’s, and The Silver Fox.  James also worked in sales for Curtis Industries.  He loved the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Chicago Cubs, and playing golf.  James died at the age of 80 on February 18, 2024, at NorthCrest Specialty Care in Waterloo.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kent Douglas Wagner.   James is survived by a son, Matthew Wagner of Chicago and a daughter, Joy Wagner of Atlantic Beach, Florida.  The memorial service will be on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at 3:00 PM, at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories in Waterloo.
