Kathleen Eileen Frey of Waterloo. Iowa died on Sunday, April 6, 2025. Eileen was born September 8, 1928, in Epworth, Iowa the daughter of Christian Nicholas Clemen and Mathilda Veronica (Hennen) Clemen. Eileen married Donald W. Spitler June 1, 1962. He died in September 1967, and she married Marvin L. Frey November 23, 1978. He died in April 1992.
Eileen graduated from local rural elementary & high school in Epworth, Iowa. She attended computer classes at Hawkeye Community College. She was employed in the offices of The Rath Packing Co and The Pepsi Cola Company in Waterloo. Eileen was a member of Unity Presbyterian Church. She was very involved in the church leadership as an elder, clerk of session, deacons, women’s group, prime timers, and sit & sip. She spent many years as a deacon. Eileen enjoyed gardening, book club, ceramics, Bible study, quilting, and traveling on tours. She also enjoyed her computer and kindle.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Spitler of Waterloo; son and stepsons, Donald (Ruth) Spitler of San Diego, California, Marvin Frey, and Merlin Frey (Sally Jones) of Cherokee, Iowa; daughter-in-law Peg Frey of Cedar Falls, Iowa; brother Earl Clemen of Gifford, Illinois and many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son Kip Spitler and spouse Penny Bouch; step-son Rodney Frey; sister Mildred Reed; brother Roger Clemen, daughter-in-law Barbara Frey; and great-grandson Anthony Brown.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, July 19th at the Unity Presbyterian Chruch in Waterloo. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am and will be followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am
