Lois Jean Miller was born July 1, 1955, in Charles City, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Maxine (Scribner) Dilly. She was baptized at St. James Lutheran Church in Allison and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Clarksville. Lois graduated from Clarksville Community Schools in 1973, where she held a record in track and field for many years. She was married to Mike Miller on October 11, 1974, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Clarksville, where there was a Volkswagen Beetle in the foyer. This shocked all, perhaps most, the Pastor.
Lois was accomplished in everything she pursued. In her career, she was always taking on new roles, learning new skills and reinventing herself. She worked full time until the age of 62, while also caring for her family, her home and her many hobbies. Lois was a perfectionist and a skilled cook, gardener, sewist (quilter) and interior decorator. Her greatest passion among them all were her four grandchildren.
Lois passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home from a four-month battle with pancreatic cancer, at the age of 69. She was preceded in death by her parents. Lois is survived by her husband, Mike of Waterloo; daughter, Ashley (Tony) Bohnenkamp of Des Moines; son, Landon Miller of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Hazel Holter, Violet Holter, Maxine Bohnenkamp and Lincoln Miller; brother, David (Loreli, Eighth Dan) Dilly of Shell Rock; three sisters, Dr. Barbara Dilly, PhD of Shell Rock, Marcella Best of Omaha and Lorraine (Ron) Hamel of Madrid.
Friends and Family of Lois are invited to their home on January 18, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm
Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or Butler County Conservation Board.
