Lori Gale Palmer, 61, of Washburn, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Ravenwood Specialty Care in Waterloo, while under Care Initiatives Hospice. Visitation for Lori will be held on Tuesday, July 16th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Parrott and Wood Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 17th at 11:00 AM, at the funeral home, preceded by one hour of visitation. Burial will follow services at the Fontana Cemetery in Hazleton. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Lori was born on February 11, 1963, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Gerald and Joan (Adams) Tappan. She and her family moved to Waterloo in 1978. She graduated from Waterloo West High School, with the class of 1981. After high school, she began her career as an insurance adjuster with John Deere Heritage, later United Healthcare; she retired as Senior Quality Analyst in 2014.
She enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, puzzles, drawing, coloring, traveling, watching soap operas, and loved her special furry companion, Sadie. Lori was also a huge Elvis fan. She was a planner and always loved to stay organized. Lori loved spending time with her family, and she was overjoyed when her grandson Seth was born. Although her life was cut far too short, her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Lori is survived by her husband Janon Palmer of Washburn; son Josh (Ruth) Palmer of Cedar Falls; grandson Seth Palmer; sisters Pat Szobonya and Susan Gonterman, both of Independence; many nieces and nephews; mother-in-law Janet Palmer; beloved dog Sadie. She rejoins in Heaven her parents; brothers Rusty, Mike, and Kevin Tappan; maternal and paternal grandparents; brothers-in-law Max Szobonya and Mike Carter; father-in-law Junior Palmer.
