Patricia Sass

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patricia Sharon Sass of Bettendorf, Iowa, formerly of Waterloo, Iowa, on December 12, 2024, at the age of 88.

Pat was born on August 4, 1936, the daughter of William and Mildred Edsill Armstrong. She graduated from East Waterloo High School in 1954. Pat spent 40 years of her professional life serving the community. She began her career in the Data Processing Department at the Blackhawk County Courthouse before serving four terms as the Blackhawk County Recorder. Pat was known for her strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to making a positive impact in the community. Pat was also very involved and served as the Head Chairman of the Democratic Party. Pat was united in marriage to Luverne William Sass on May 22, 1956.

Pat was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was cherished by all who knew her for her kindness, generosity, and the love she shared with her family. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother, with a special fondness for her five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, who were a constant source of joy in her life. She will be dearly missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brother, extended family, and friends. Pat’s warmth, humor, and caring spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Pat is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Judith Gesell and son-in-law, Joel Wilson.

Survivors include her children, Larry (Deb) Sass, Bettendorf, Iowa, Carol Wilson, Birchwood, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Aaron Sass, Katie (Jared) Masterson, Drew Sass, Glenn (Claire) Wilson, and Luke Wilson and 8 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to The Vistas of Bettendorf as well as Hospice of Davenport for the loving care provided to Pat.

A celebration of life will be held in June 2025. A private burial will be held in Waterloo, Iowa.
