Randy Reinke Reed

Randall Reinke Reed, 76, of Waterloo, IA, died peacefully at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, on September 30, 2024. His sister, Kathy and nephew, Ross, were by his side. 

Randy was born to Robert and Ruby Reed on December 16, 1947, the second of six children, and grew up in Dysart, IA. He graduated with the Class of 1966 and was involved in many Dysart High School activities, including band and basketball. He was thrilled when Dysart added football his senior year. Randy attended college at the University of Iowa. He enjoyed watching the Hawkeye teams play over the years and attended many home football games. Playing golf was another of his favorite pastimes.

Randy married LaRae Paulson of Dysart in 1974, and they later divorced. He worked at John Deere for 28 years, retiring in 2003.

Randy is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Tom and Greg Reed. He is survived by his two sisters, Kristi (Tom) Birge of Half Moon Bay, CA, Kathy Plummer of Waterloo, IA; one brother, Tim Reed of Ft Lauderdale, FL; one sister-in-law, Joan (Karr) Reed of Grapevine, TX; and nine beloved nieces and nephews and their children. 

A Celebration of Life will be held in Dysart, IA at a yet to be determined date and location.
