Vickie (Irwin) Bentley of Waterloo, passed away peacefully surrounded by family Wednesday, October 16, at home. Vickie was born January 24, 1955, in Joplin, Missouri to Boyd Irwin and Maxine (Bowen) Fox. Vickie Graduated from East High School in Waterloo, Iowa in 1973.
Vickie married her high school sweetheart, Fred H Bentley Jr. on June 15, 1974. She was employed through the years at Wolf Den Drive-In Restaurant, Professional Office Services, was department manager at K-Mart, Principal Financial Services and Omega as a receptionist, taking retirement from Omega in 2019.
Vickie enjoyed watching old movies, camping and spending time with friends, family and her granddaughters.
Vickie is preceded in death by her mother Maxine Fox; step father Dean Fox; brothers Delbert and Larry Fox and Greg and Mike Irwin.
Vickie is survived by her husband, Fred, of Waterloo; a daughter, Carissa Merrick of Waterloo; two granddaughters, Abigail and Adalynn Merrick of Waterloo; three sisters; Sherry Kennedy and Toni Dean of Waterloo and Jamie Hawbaker of Colfax, Iowa; four brothers; Dirk "Clyde" Fox, Kent Irwin and Rex Fox of Waterloo and Gary Fox of Moreno Valley, California along with numerous nieces and nephews; and her best friend of 55 years; Debbie Sergeant.
To honor Vickie's wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service. A celebration of life will be held at a yet to be determined date and location.
"Vickie was greatly loved by her family and all who knew her and she loved just as much back. She had a strong, fighting spirit until her final moments. She loved her cats; Big Boy, Sammie, and Little Girl and enjoyed watching them run around the house. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her."
Family would like to express their gratitude to Cedar Valley Hospice and all the doctors, nurses and staff who provided care for her.
